Ugh, I saw the movie before I read the books, and one day I just picked up the first one for lulz. I had them all done just a short time later. Two other good books by Douglas Adams are Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, and the Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. They are not quite as random as Hitchiker's, but pretty close.

Probably Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. By my standard, its 700-some-odd pages was a lot. But it was a great book for me.

Others for me would include either/both of the two Inheritance books by Christopher Paolini. Also The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey. All three books in the Rnager's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. All three books in the Percy Jackson & the Oylmpians series by Rick Riordan. All three books in the Power of Five series by Anthony Horrowitz. The Door Within trilogy by Wayne Thomas Batson.

Ya.. A lot. I just like them all, can't easily put one above the rest.

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, one of the most convoluted books I've ever read.

So many great books. I'm currently reading Sinclair's The Jungle (old classic I never bothered reading).

My favorite is actually three: Lord of the Rings triology.

Dude the Lord of the Rings Books are so much better than the movies. I hate it when people act like experts because they saw the movie a hundred times instead of picking up the original book.

You pretty much quoted my entire English curriculum right here. All you're missing are A Tale of Two Cities and Wuthering Heights (ugh, hated them both).

I'm not too much of a reader, but I enjoyed Lord of the Flies and the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Johnathon Stroud as well as the Odyssey because I like Greek Mythology.

Well.. kind of like "Wow! I wonder what'll happen next chapter! Will it be Incredibly Cliche Outcome Number Three Thousand and Fifty Eight, or I Totally Expected That Scenario Number Ninety-Four?"

IMO the Wheel of Time series wasn't particularly good... the Aes Sedai are a horrible idea (you can't harm anyone with your own power? What kind of bloody idiocy is that?) and the women are all too ladylike or evil seductresses... it's like Cliche Central.

As for what I like...
Song of the Lioness (series) by Tamora Pierce
Protector of the Small (series) by Tamora Pierce
Warriors (series) by Erin Hunter
The entire Harry Potter series

I still don't think the top is empty, although I wish I knew what significance the horn had. I think whether you read the coda or not, it was the right way to end the series, there was no way he could've ended with a definite answer.

Just ask those people who Shelob's mother was, or who Morgoth is. Only true Tolkein snobs know that kind of stuff.

I don't think he was punished because of the horn. On most Dark Tower threads people say he never learned to love, but I disagree with that. He loved Jake, and he demonstrated that while trying to save the fictionial stephen king. I don't think that Roland is doomed though, since each loop ends up differently, maybe he'll break it and finally find what's really in the tower. Btw since your picture thing by your name is the Crimson King I was kinda expecting you to reply to this thread. I also wanted a huge showdown between Roland and Randall Flagg/ Walter O Dim, but instead Flagg ended up as spider food, not what I expected.

i'm almost done with the dark tower VI: song of susannah some weird sh*t in this series, can't wait to find out how it ends.

aside from the dark tower series, some of my favorite books are: sati by christopher pike, wasted by marya hornbacher (nonfiction), and it's been a long day at work so my brain is fried and that's all i can think of

Opinion, not fact mate.

I'd say my favourite books are the Bartimaeus Trilogy (The Amulet of Samarkand, The Golem's Eye, and Ptolemy's Gate).

Oh, and a final note: Remember that the Bible was written by people who thought the world was flat.
